RHS Tatton 2022 Planting Pockets Display | Soggy Bottom Border

Choosing the right plant for the right place has never been as important. With current shifts in our climate we are seeing bigger fluctuations in rainfall and drought over the seasons and our gardens will need to respond to these trickier conditions not only in order to survive and flourish but to also help with flood alleviation, carbon sequestration and even the provision of habitats for wildlife.

Understanding the type of soil you have is key. This border, created as a display for the Rhs, shows plants that will thrive in moisture retentive soils in sun/part shade. The planting will tolerate spells of water-logging and would suit areas of the garden that collect water especially after downpours and gardens with a clay subsoil.
